Elspeth completed her Lifemusic training in 2015, and was keen to combine this approach with her love of music making, of working with children, and with some of what she’s learned and valued from her recent studies in therapeutic play and the therapeutic arts.
Having experimented with and adapted the Lifemusic method to her work in a nursery setting, and having presented her findings in an informal and experiential staff training session, Elspeth is now creating a new project called ‘Music in the Moment’, with the aim of offering opportunities for playful and creative music making to more people.
As a qualified teacher, Elspeth will be working mainly with primary aged children. Her approach is child-centred, with her primary aim being to create warm and trusting environments in which the children feel safe enough to improvise and express themselves through musical instruments, voice and movement.
