Since Shirley trained as a Lifemusic Practitioner in 2014 she has adopted the Lifemusic principles in all areas of her work. Shirley’s approach is to include and empower and for people to take ownership of their experiences. This year she plans on holding Lifemusic classes for various ages and groups, particularly children. She will be running an after school Lifemusic club at a local primary school and may run some courses in a yurt on a farm in Fernhurst.

Shirley is a hypnobirth teacher and a doula, Recently she began Reiki training and incorporates this into her work. She also runs Yo Baby - music and movement classes for babies and toddlers with songs, percussion, rhythms and languages from around the world. She works in all areas of the community, from pupil referral units to Sure Start centres;  as well as offering one-to-one sessions for people with disabilities.

“Experiencing music through the voice, body and external sounds lights your soul and connects you to others around you. Being part of that makes you “feel” and that is why I love the Lifemusic approach to music… it just makes sense. Everyone has the right to experience and enjoy music, we all have the ability to experience and enjoy music and Lifemusic enables that to happen."
